Originally from Dalkeith, Kevin was lucky enough at secondary school to be introduced to outdoor education including walking and climbing, loved the outdoor environment, the challenge and even back then a seed had been planted with regards to mountains.

From 1988-1998, working in the Edinburgh area and having given up playing semi professional football, Kevin spent most weekends "escaping" the city and venturing into the Scottish Mountains walking and climbing as well as numerous summer holiday trips to the Alps.
Prior to Kevin's own initial adventures, he did attend mountaineering courses which were fantastic and they really inspired him to get out and do more and eventually pushed him into changing career to a job in the outdoors.

Having been a client and having spent time working in an industry where service was key, Kevin makes it a priority to continue providing a quality Professional Service as a Mountain Instructor.
"Everyone is a customer!"

Kevin also currently works on all aspects of MTUK Training and Assessment courses, SML to WMCI and is a WMCI Mentor for the Association Mountaineering Instructors. If you are interested in being mentored through one of the fantastic MTUK qualifications, drop Kevin a message!
Testimonials

"Kevin was clear and professional in his assessment process but gave so much extra information and continued to develop us as candidates with little gems of knowledge and skill improvements whilst allowing us to do our own thing so to speak. Occasionally had to remind myself we were on assessment as he set a fantastic relaxed enjoyable atmosphere. Excellent week and very thankful for the effort and time Kevin put into us as candidates."

"The course content was spot on and Kevin our instructor was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. There was a good balance between stopping off to focus on skills to simply having enjoyable days out on the hill. "

"Kevin was excellent, right amount of mentoring and application of practical skills. I found Kevin easy going and confident, which helped teaching the skills.Kevin pitched things at the right level and always asked for feedback in order for us to clarify the learning points. Asking us to plan stuff was excellent!"
