Both teams finishing the Fiacaill Ridge of Coire an t Sneachda, Cairngorm on day 2 of their Rock Climb & Scramble course.
We spent Saturday at a sunny Cummingston on the Moray Coast. Although the crag was busy we still managed to cover all the basic skills plus a few extras due to some of the team having climbed before. Cummingston is a great venue, Torridonian Sandstone, very featured and although steep, it provides a very positive climbing experience and the bouldering is great as well for movement skills.
The forecast for Sunday was mixed and started off drizzly but improved as we made our way in towards Coire an t Sneachda. Twin Ribs is not in the guide books but provides another great venue for looking at basic scrambling ropework, building simple anchors, belaying, placing protection and some short pitches to bring everything together. The Fiacaill Ridge after some lunch again gave the team a chance to practise some of the morning skills as well as the skill of taking coils and moving together on a more exposed horizontal ridge.
The team were fantastic, quick learners and happy to give things a go with the knowledge that more practise will make things slicker.
